Using the Person Editing Window
The Edit Person window
Once you click the Add Person toolbar button, an Edit Person window. This window allows you to add information about new persons in your family tree, and also to edit the information provided in existing persons in your family tree.
The General tab
In the General tab, you can enter the following information:
- Name: First, Middle, Last and Maiden
- Gender
- Birth information: Location and Year
- Death information: Date, Cause and Burial Location
- A Person Photo - The photograph that will be displayed representing that person throughout Family. More photographs can be added in the Documents and Media tab.
You may add photographs already on your computer, from iPhoto, or you can take pictures from your iSight. To add an image from iSight, click "Set Image" and then you will be at the photograph taking area.
The StoryTelling Tab
The next tab holds one of my favorite features of Family, something I have dubbed as our "StoryTelling" feature. This allows you to enter information about each person in a more free form area. This results in you being able to enter information in a more colloquial manner, adding in the story of each persons life.
The Documents and Media tab
In the Edit Person window, click on the Documents and Media tab. Here, you can add documents and pictures, along with any type of file, to the table on the right.
